MICHIGAN APPALOOSA HORSE ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER (For inclusion in the July 2008 Equine Times)
Hi Everyone, We are still looking for names to put on the ballot for the election of officers. We will need those who are interested to contact Jill Baker at 517-336-8144 or email her at baker.jill@comcasst.net. A reminder to all members that in order to be eligible for year-end awards, exhibitors must have shown in said class a minimum of 50% or ½ of the MApHA approved shows (judges) where said class is offered. This means if there is a two-judge show it counts as two shows, if there is a four-judge show it counts as four shows. Also, there will only be two age breaks for the youth section this year, they are 13 & under and 14 through 18. If there are any questions please feel free to contact Britney Dillon at 989-243-3523. There was a mistake on the Sizzler I & II Show. Stall reservations are actually due by July 24th; please contact Cathy Wood at 517-655-2351. We will be DOUBLE POINTING the Classic Show for MApHA members. This will be a great show to come and earn those extra points you may need! Territory VI of the ApHC had the most entries at shows last year, around 68,000 entries. Lets try to break that record this year .come on out and show with the best. For the Masters Section (ages 50 & over) we will be doing a Nifty-Fifty Special at all the MApHA shows. A $50 blanket fee will include Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Pleasure, and Western Equitation, this $50 fee does NOT include a stall or ApHC fees. There is also a work saddle raffle in the works for us. The saddle has been generously donated by Crest View Tack Shop located on the Ingham County Fairgrounds, Mason. It will be engraved with the 50th Anniversary and MApHA. The tickets are now available for $1 each. Contact Judy Biber to get your tickets to sell at 248-486-0695. Sweatshirts are available in deep red and rust and the tee shirts are green or blue. There are a few left for purchase; see Jill Baker at the announcers booth for further information or call her at 517-336-8144. Checks/money orders are to be made out to MApHA. The shirts may be picked up at any of the shows until they are all sold. Jim Hollis will be doing the Futurity brochure again. Contact him at miappaloosafuturity@gmail.com for placing ads. The futurity page on our website has been updated; go to www.michappclub.com then click on the futurity button. Jim is also doing the calendar again if you are interested in placing an ad contact him. Anybody who brings in a club sponsorship of $200 will receive $50 credit towards the year end banquet; bring in $400 and receive $100 credit. This credit may be applied to your room or food costs.
